1.The handmade bamboo chasen, also known as a bamboo whisk, is an important tool used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, also known as a 'chanoyu' or 'sado'. chasen are made by skilled artisans who carefully select and hand shape each bamboo tip. The resulting whisk is a beautiful and functional work of art.
2.The Chasen is made from a single piece of bamboo, which is divided into a number of tiny tines at the end. These fine teeth are then carefully shaped and trimmed to create a delicate and intricate pattern that creates a frothy, well-mixed tea when used. The number of spouts may vary, but the most common Chasen has around 80-100 or 120g spouts. Of course there are also more or less bamboo tips.
3.The bamboo used to make the chasen is harvested in spring when the new shoots are at their most tender and pliable. The bamboo is then aged and dried to remove any excess moisture and to ensure that it does not crack or break during use.
4.The handmade bamboo tea set is a beautiful and practical tool, favoured by tea lovers around the world. Its intricate design and delicate construction make it a work of art, while its ability to produce perfect blends and bubbles ensures that it is an essential tool for anyone who takes tea seriously.
